Our Mission: To protect and restore the surrounding fields and forests, waters, wildlife, views, and vistas while providing a simple, affordable, and environmentally friendly choice for burial.

What does Serenity Ridge Natural Burial Cemetery & Arboretum look like?

It doesn’t look much like a conventional cemetery. In fact, it resembles a nature preserve with walking trails. Rather than mowed grass, headstones, and mausoleums, a loved one’s gravesite will be surrounded by trees, shrubs, wildflowers and rolling meadows, with the entire property surrounded by an 80-acre forest. The headstones are flat, field stones or wood with simple engraving. No stones are polished or raised above the earth. Everything goes back to replenish the earth.

We are certified by the Green Burial Council

We are certified by the Green Burial Council, the national certifying body for green burial standards for natural cemeteries in the United States. By these standards, a natural burial ground requires the adoption of practices/protocols that are energy-conserving, minimize waste, and do not allow the use of toxic chemicals. Everything used for burial is renewable.
